Description

Lowland intensively used agricultural ecosystems prevail in the territory. There can be found fragments of forest habitats, predominantly artificial alleys along roads and water channels and small field woods. Dispersed trees can be found locally. Water habitats are represented by artificial water channels and small gravel pits.

Area protection

IBA Ostrovné lúky was designated a Special Protection Area (SPA) on January 7, 2008.

Importance

Site is one of the most important Slovak nesting areas of Red-footed Falcon (Falco vespertinus). Site is important for nesting of Tawny Pipit (Anthus campestris) and Lesser Grey Shrike (Lanius minor) as well.
