Description

Relief of the area passes from flatland parts to hilly parts. It includes large wetlands with prevailing reed vegetation. Surrounding habitats are represented by wet meadows with bushes and trees, fields, orchards and sand pits.

Area protection

IBA Parížske močiare was designated a Special Protection Area (SPA) on January 7 2008.

Importance

Site is significant for nesting of waterfowl and bird species living near the water. It belongs to the areas with the highest density of marsh species in Central Europe and it is the only known nesting site of Moustached Warbler (Acrocephalus melanopogon) in Slovakia.
