Red-breasted Flycatcher in Bratislava

Železná studnička is a popular recreational area for Bratislava residents. If the weather is sunny, thousands of people come to spend there their weekend free time. Although the weather during this weekend was not perfect, many people interested in recognizing bird calls stopped at our informational stand. On Saturday we even had to end our course prematurely because of the rain. Nevertheless we have recorded 31 species of birds. The biggest surprise for us was an observation of Red-breasted Flycatcher, which we recorded after 7 years or organizing this event at the same place. This bird even sang close to the public bus stop.

Among interesting moments we would like to mention Blackbird chicks that recently left their parent´s nest, or the discovery of Blue Tit nest. We were pleased by observation of Common Toad walking on the road and Grass Snakes basking in the sun.
